Bunny Jones has a secret life…

By day, she’s an investigative assistant who blends into the background. By night, she’s the Shadow Siren—a ruthless vigilante delivering brutal justice to men who hurt women.

The only person she can’t seem to hide from is the detective who knows her better than anyone, because he’s already helped her cover up a murder—her husband’s.

Hunter Remington has always wanted all of Bunny—her heart, her trust, her darkness. But after surviving an abusive marriage, she’s hesitant to open herself up to love again.

When a reckless night leads to an unplanned pregnancy, Bunny must choose between the violent life that gives her power and the man who sees every broken part of her—and still wants more.

As anonymous threats surface and old enemies rise from the dead, Bunny is forced to confront the Hunter’s obsession might be the only thing keeping her alive.

Obsession cuts both ways, though, and when her secret identity is exposed, love might not be enough to save her.

Sirens and Stilettos by D.L. Darby is the 2nd novel in the Serial Killer Book Club series. This story is a bit more tame than its predecessor in terms of violence and gore. However, it doesn’t skimp on the spice.

The story follows Hunter and Bunny as they navigate a rocky attraction. Their relationship is definitely complicated and at some points Bunny becomes annoyingly stubborn. In the third act, there are points where they both pissed me off, but I think they redeem themselves in the end. Early on in the story it becomes apparent that Dolls & Daggers and Sirens & Stilettos takes place in tandem and Darby has confirmed that Venoms & Vixens will also do the same.

The audiobook is produced by Blue Nose Audio, so you know the production for Siren & Stilettos is top notch. This one is narrated by Shiloh James and Gabriel Spires and they both absolutely nailed it. Shiloh’s range fantastic and she was able to match Lucy River’s rendition of Dove perfectly. So much so that I had to double check to make sure it wasn’t a full cast. This is my first time hearing narration from Gabriel and I loved his portrayal of Hunter. He really brought Hunter’s detective persona to life. The whole time I was listening, I imagined a Phillip Marlow type of guy.

Even though there were parts of the story that got under my skin a bit, I still really enjoy Darby’s writing style. Her pacing is excellent and she knows when to add humor and spice at just the right moments. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next. If you loved Dolls & Daggers, I think you’ll enjoy this one as well.
