The Bug Collector by Wrath James White

Joey has a very unique paraphilia that has ruined his health, destroyed his once handsome looks, and made him an outcast, a pariah. Now, this horrifying fetish threatens his very life, placing him in the hands of a profoundly disturbed and angry woman with a serious grudge.

I’ve seen a lot of splatterpunk and extreme horror videos where The Bug Collector by Wrath James White is mentioned, and the only thing they really say is, ‘The Bug Collector is about a guy who collects STDs.’ To say it’s just about a guy who collects STDs feels kind of like an insult, because it’s so much deeper than that, and the story is so much more complex.

What The Bug Collector is really about is this man’s addiction that he developed through trauma, and the effect that his addiction has on people around him directly and indirectly. Joey passed something on to the wrong person, and now he has to pay the consequences for his fetish. This book is so deep, and there are so many complexities within the characters.

Joey is such a fascinating character, and the story that he’s being forced to tell is heartbreaking, gross, and disturbing all at the same time. If you have not read The Bug Collector, I highly, highly, highly recommend that you check it out. Fair warning, you really need to be a fan of splatter punk and extreme horror because if you have any trigger warnings whatsoever, this book is not for you.

I personally loved it, and I cannot wait to read more of his work. There’s a lot going on here, so go check it out. It’s on Kindle, or you can get it directly from his website www.wrathjwhorror.com
